Crate Training

It’s important to establish an area for your pit bull. Crate training provides your pit bull with a home that it can call its own. Introduce the crate to your pit bull. Make it comfortable for them. If they go to the bathroom in the crate, teach them in a stern voice that is not to do that.

Be sure to have their wee pads setup in a separate location and bring your pit bull to them. If you happen to catch your pit bull while they are going to the bathroom, bring them over to the wee pads. Then reward them with a treat for using them. There will be some ups and downs but consistency will have your pit bull trained in no-time.

Leash Training

You don’t walk your dog walking to be anxiety ridden. As your pit bull grows, your pit bull may start pulling on the leash and dragging you where they want to go. You can easily correct this with adult pit bulls but it’s best to teach them properly when they are puppies.

If your pit bull pulls on the leash, make them sit and wait by your side before walking again. In short order, they will associate that pulling sensation with the stop of their walk. Repeat each time they pull you. When they stop and stay till pet them and let them know they are behaving properly.

Establish the Alpha Position

It’s important to establish yourself as the Alpha so your pit bull knows who is in command. Once this position is established, the rest of the training pieces will fall into place much easier.

Obedience Training

The best pit bull training tips you get can come from an obedience class. These classes teach new pit bull owners how to maintain the alpha leadership position in their household, display control over their new pup and give them specific, strong commands. If you have a new puppy or are simply having trouble controlling your older pit bull, consider an obedience class to supplement your home training.

Reward good behavior

Rewarding good behavior and appropriate responses is the best way you can train your pit bull. You will hear this in almost every training program. This is how your pit bull learns the right thing to do.

Keep it consistent and keep rewarding their good behavior. Pit bulls are smart dogs and will progress quickly. Refer to your training guide when needed.
